What's New, Pussycat? Oh, whoa-whoa, oh whoa. - Tom Jones

So, how's it hangin'? I've managed to miss a whole month of blogging and yet haven't missed that much. So what's new with me? Not much. I recently took on a part-time non-paid gig helping Steve Rude (creator of Nexus and all around comic art god) with some photoshop work on the Nexus Archives vol. 6. Which is pretty cool. My wife's not as happy about it as I am, since it takes my days off, and a lot of gas, but this is kind of a once-in-a-lifetime kind of gig. I can't pass this up.

What else? I saw Spider-Man 3 on opening night. Ugh. It was not as good as advertised. They tried to cram WAAAAY too much into a 2 hour film. You can tell where they spent the special effects budget, because Venom and Sandman looked great, but the fight scenes looked very much like a video Game. I liked the Sandman character in the movie much more than the comic version, just like doc ock in the 2nd movie, but I wish they'd have just left Venom out. Raimi does a great job with the "Science Project Gone Wrong" characters, why muck with that? And seeing venom onscreen just served to illustrate how weak a character he really is. I mean, yeah you can say he's crazy, and what not, but his major motivation? Peter Parker proved that he photoshopped a picture. OOOOOH, bad Peter, now he's gotta die. What? The last fight scene was cool, but a bit gratuitous. It just felt like they needed some way to redeem the Harry character after 2 movies worth of pouting and sulking. And then they kill him. How retarded is that? And when Pete gets the Black Symbiote, he gets all emo. I hate emo-kids anyway, but to make my favorite superhero into one? Ugh. And don't even get me started on emo-Pete's "Saturday Night Fever" homage complete with light disco soundtrack. All-in-All i'd give Spider-man 3 a 6 out of 10. See it, but don't pay full price.

I don't really have any new art to show, unfortunately. This gig with Steve and my recent move has really eaten my available art time, but I do have a couple cards to show from a month or so ago.

As always, Thanks for checkin' back.
